SBOMS Initiates Breast Cancer Early Detection Programs in Northwest Syria in Collaboration with Multiple Medical Organizations

الهيئة السورية للاختصاصات الطبية تطلق مبادرات للكشف المبكر عن سرطان الثدي في شمال غرب سوريا بالتعاون مع عدة منظمات طبية

In its dedication to improving comprehensive healthcare and bolstering family medicine in Northwest Syria, the Syrian Board of Medical Specialties (SBOMS) has initiated new programs under the Family Doctors Advocacy Initiative, concentrating on the early detection of breast cancer. These programs are being executed in partnership with various medical organizations and centers throughout the region, aligning with World Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October 2024.

The programs offer free breast cancer screenings for women over forty, available at multiple medical centers across Northwest Syria. Beyond screenings, these programs also strive to enhance awareness of early detection’s significance and highlight the essential role of psychosocial support for those who have overcome breast cancer.

These initiatives are part of SBOMS’s broader efforts to enhance the family medicine specialty in Northwest Syria, with an emphasis on strengthening primary healthcare and improving the quality of preventive and diagnostic medical services in the region.

The Syrian Board of Medical Specialization urges all women concerned to take advantage of this opportunity and undergo the necessary screenings to ensure their health and safety.
