A collaborative meeting between the Scientific Council for Emergency Medicine SBOMS with the British Royal College Emergency Medicine Team for the development of specialization in NW Syria

A fruitful and vital meeting was held between the Scientific Council of the Emergency Medicine Specialty in Northwest Syria and a team from the Royal College of Emergency Medicine in Gaziantep, Turkey. This meeting aimed to develop emergency medicine specialization and improve training for resident physicians in the field of emergency medicine in Northwest Syria.

Some emergency physicians working in Northwest Syria attended the meeting and the two teams discussed several important topics, including:

  • Selecting the approved references in the study of emergency medicine.
  • Defining the mechanisms of sorting residents during training periods between hospitals and the required specialties within the emergency medicine specialty, with the expected period for each sorting.
  • Defining emergency medicine specialists’ teaching, training, practical, and supervisory tasks.
  • Developing a training plan and working policy, tasks, and training for resident physicians in emergency medicine.

The meeting focused on developing the level of specialization and improving emergency training for resident physicians in Northwest Syria. An agreement was reached to enhance effective communication with the Royal College of Emergency Medicine team and schedule upcoming meetings and training in the future. This cooperation aims to benefit from the experience of the British team in developing emergency medicine and ensuring quality and efficiency in Northwest Syria.

A key objective of the meeting was to discuss opportunities and challenges facing emergency medicine in the region and to improve the quality of healthcare and emergency training in the challenging conditions in the region of NW Syria. For a high-quality medical practice and efficient emergency response, a training schedule, teaching, training, practical, and supervisory tasks were established for resident physicians.

A significant step has been taken towards developing emergency medicine in the region of NW Syria through this meeting. The region faces difficult conditions, so it will promote medical training and expertise. It is expected that this cooperation will contribute significantly to improving the quality of healthcare and medical response to emergencies. It will also ensure quality and efficiency in Northwest Syria.
