Success Story of Blepharoptosis-repair in a Child in One of the Training Hospitals of the Syrian Board for Medical Specialties SBOMS

A 4-year-old child attended the ophthalmology clinic at the Martyr Muhammad Waseem Moaz Hospital with a complaint of upper eyelid drooping as a result of an old trauma, and was evaluated by Dr. Muhammad Hallaq, Ophthalmology resident doctor. Dr Muhammad examined the function of the levator palpebrae superioris muscle and identified the amount of drooping. Under the supervision of Dr. Alaa Rashwani, who decided the surgical operation.

During the operation a scar tissue and fibrosis was found, with a cut through the fascia ot the medial side of the levator palpebrae superioris muscle. The scars and fibrosis were removed, the muscle fascia was reconnected and the structure of the eyelid was restructured in order to reach the best expected cosmetic result.

The results after the surgical operation were excellent, as the normal function of the eyelid returned and the aesthetic aspect improved

We spared the child the psychological problems that might occur with him in the future.
