SBOMS Quality Team Completes Field Visits to Accredited Hospitals in Obstetrics and Gynecology

The Quality Team at the Syrian Board of Medical Specialization (SBOMS) has successfully concluded a series of field visits to educational hospitals accredited in the Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Surgery program. These visits encompassed eight hospitals across northern Syria and aimed to evaluate the educational process for resident doctors in this specialty. This initiative is part of SBOMS’s ongoing commitment to advancing the quality of medical education, developing training programs, and fostering an exceptional learning environment that enhances healthcare delivery.

During the visits, the Quality Team engaged with 50 female resident doctors in the Obstetrics and Gynecology program at their training facilities. These interactions provided an opportunity to address the challenges and difficulties residents encounter in their educational and training journey. Additionally, the team held discussions with specialist doctors overseeing the training in these hospitals, gathering valuable feedback and recommendations to further improve the program’s quality.

The field visits also included a comprehensive assessment of hospital medical departments to evaluate their capacity to support the educational process. Key areas for improvement were identified, including shortages of certain medical equipment and devices critical for training, as well as occasional deficits in support staff. In addition, the team visited non-accredited hospitals to assess their readiness to meet accreditation standards, aiming to expand the network of accredited hospitals and ensure an optimal learning environment for residents.

SBOMS emphasizes that the development of medical education remains a cornerstone of its strategy to strengthen Syria’s healthcare sector. By equipping residents to deliver advanced, patient-centered care aligned with international standards, these efforts aim to elevate the quality of national healthcare services.

The Board extends its sincere gratitude to medical institutions, hospitals, directors, and department heads for their constructive collaboration with the Quality Team. This partnership plays a pivotal role in improving healthcare delivery and enhancing the competency of medical professionals across Syria.
