As part of ongoing efforts to improve medical education in Syria, the Syrian Board of Medical Specialties (SBOMS) organized a specialized workshop titled “Improving the Quality of Medical Education in Pediatrics.” The workshop featured extensive participation from pediatricians, led by the President of the Pediatric Scientific Council and several council members, alongside medical education experts. Participants discussed the primary challenges and gaps identified by the quality assurance team during field visits and presented evidence-based solutions to enhance training curricula and improve the clinical competencies of pediatric residents.
Action Plan to Enhance Pediatric Medical Education
The workshop focused on reviewing the outcomes of field visits aimed at identifying educational gaps within pediatric training hospitals, particularly in the efficiency of practical training and the supervision provided by trainers. This review is part of a broader effort to develop a comprehensive action plan that will be implemented to better integrate theoretical and practical aspects of medical training. The plan seeks to improve the learning environment and provide more effective support to pediatric residents, ensuring a higher standard of medical education.
SBOMS Commitment to Advancing Medical Education and Strengthening the Healthcare System
The Syrian Board of Medical Specialties (SBOMS) reaffirms its unwavering commitment to advancing medical education through the organization of specialized workshops and training activities designed to enhance the quality of educational practices and ensure the adoption of best practices, in line with the ambitions of the World Health Organization (WHO). This workshop is part of SBOMS’s comprehensive strategy to foster excellence in medical education and provide residents with an advanced learning experience that builds their professional competencies. SBOMS also recognizes that improving the quality of medical education is a cornerstone for developing Syria’s healthcare system, as it directly contributes to enhancing healthcare quality and strengthening the ability of medical professionals to efficiently and effectively meet the needs of society.
